I was born and raised in Roanoke Rapids, NC where I graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School. I graduated from Nash Community College in May, 2021 with an Associate of Arts Degree. After graduating I moved to Charlotte, NC where I began my [undergraduate] bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. During the 2022-2023 academic year, I resided in Gastonia, North Carolina where I student taught at New Hope Elementary School in 5th grade, in Gaston County Schools! I also have previous experience in 5th grade in both Union County Public Schools and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. I am so excited to be moving to Wake County to begin on the new Barton Pond Elementary 5th Grade Team for the 2023-2024 school year.

What do I remember about learning to read?
I remember learning to read any many forms from letter & number magnets on the fridge to picture books, nursery rimes, leapfrog games which were developmental games to learn to read and write through interactive learning tools. Some of my favorite memories with learning to read was story time in school and with my grandmother. I remember some of my first children's books were "The Very Hungry Caterpillar", "Lullaby Moon" and many others. -Daniel Acree
